YouTube offers built-in parental controls in the form of a Restricted Mode. This feature categorizes videos according to their age suitability, effectively screening out potentially mature content. This age rating is determined by several factors:

- Manual review by YouTube's moderation team.
- Automated filtering algorithms that analyze the video's title, description, and metadata.
- Community reports of videos containing vulgar language, nudity, violence, or content unsuitable for children.
By default, YouTube Restricted Mode is only applied to users who are logged into an account with an age set under 18, or to users who manually choose to enable it in their browser settings. However, any user can easily toggle this setting off if it is not secured.
How to Lock YouTube Restricted Mode for All Users
